I am obsessed with these pens - they are perfect for making notes, signing books and sketching out ideas - but they are almost impossible to find. After discovering - sob! - that Sharpie have discontinued them, I found a box on eBay and bought them at great expense. This might be the last box of these pens I’ll ever find 😭 but I bet there are loads sitting in a warehouse somewhere… If anyone has a friend who works for Sharpie, or if you ever stumble across these, let me know! They have to be black ink, not red or blue. Do you have a particular brand or type of pen you *have* to use?
Such a fun night at @waterstonestcr last night with @lisajewelluk and @victoriaselmanauthor. Here we are looking like we should be presenting an American morning show. Big crowd, lots of laughs, great questions from the audience and loads of books sold and signed. A huge thank you to everyone who came out in the hideous weather ☔️
I’ve just seen the best movie of 2024. The Substance is an audacious, shocking, utterly bonkers horror movie starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, both of whom are incredible, and is about ageing and impossible beauty standards. Some jaw-dropping body horror and a crazy final 20 minutes. Reminded me in parts of The Fly and The Thing. I didn’t think anything would top Poor Things this year but The Substance managed it. An instant classic.
I loved the remake of #speaknoevil which I saw at the cinema today. The Danish original is my favourite horror of the 20s so far - it’s so dark and uncompromising - and I was worried the British/American version would be watered down. I was very pleasantly surprised. James McAvoy is magnificent and the whole thing was so tense I felt sick (in a good way). The ending is different to the original, and less bleak, but it’s exactly the kind of psychological horror thriller I love and I wish I’d written it.
